How do I get an API key?
Go to console.cloud.google.com and create (or pick) a project. Billing must be attached, but casual personal use stays well inside the free monthly tier.
In APIs & Services → Library, search for Map Tiles API and click Enable.
In APIs & Services → Credentials, choose Create credentials → API key. Copy it here.
Recommended: edit the key and restrict it to the Map Tiles API only.
The key is kept only in this browser's local storage — it never leaves your machine except in requests to Google.
